Orbea bike reviews 2022: Is It A Good Brand Or Not?

Looking to buy an Orbea but not sure which one to get? Or maybe you are still wondering if it is a good brand or not. Either way, you are in the right place.

Below, we cover A-Z details about the brand. This includes not just the top models but also details about their after-sales, warranty and so on.

So let’s jump straight to it.

Best Orbea Bikes For 2022

1. Orbea Alma

Specs:

  • Fork: Rigid/100 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Carbon
  • MTB Type: XC Hardtail Bike

There are a lot of exciting hardtails out there going for the lowest prices in town but none left a mark in my heart like the Orbea Alma.

When I sold my Orbea Alma, it was an emotional goodbye, and you are about to know why. I hate to keep you waiting, but this is perhaps the lightest cross-country bike I’ve had the chance to ride.

The hardtail is designed to offer efficiency and smooth interaction with the terrain. Not only does it provide a comfortable ride, but it also engages your mind for an efficient power transfer.

Even though Alma is a hardtail, it’s more expensive than some Orbea full suspension bikes. In fact, the Alma LTD which comes with a free-flow aerodynamic fork is more expensive than Alma Team and Pro, which has adjustable suspension forks.

The Orbea Alma is the ideal bike for you if you care about having a high-end hardtail and not afraid to spend. It’s a nice bike to ride on XC-oriented trails that are generally smooth.

Due to its lightweight design, Alma is such a great climber, you will be perplexed. However, when it comes to cruising down on descends at high speeds, Alma will not live to it, especially the LTD edition with a rigid fork.

2. Orbea Laufey

Specs:

  • Fork: 140 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Alloy
  • MTB Type: Trail Hardtail Bike

Even though most mountain bikers and trail enthusiasts are going for full suspension, hardtails in the trail niche are here to stay. Just get yourself to the top of the saddle of the Orbea Laufey, and you’ll understand what I mean.

This bike is as versatile and capable as any other full suspension trail bike. While the full suspension might beat the Laufey on descends, the latter will take the crown when the trail turns into a climb.

What’s more, with its 140 mm of travel, and 29er wheels offering better rolling over obstacles, the Orbea Laufey budget trail bike is one of the most affordable trails in the market right now. It boasts 2.6-inch tires that offer better traction.

There are three Laufey models available, and all of them come with triple-butted aluminum frames to make them lighter than life. You get a free dropper post when you buy the Laufey.

Laufey is a stunning bike that you deserve if you are into trail riding but on a budget. With its aggressive geometry, the bike will get you anywhere you want.

It’s also the most suitable bike for you if you like hitting steeper, bumpier, and more technical trails. However, Laufey, just like any other hardtail, is not forgiving on descents.

3. Orbea Oiz

Specs:

  • Fork: 100-120 mm Travel
  • Shock: 100-120 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 27.5”/29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Alloy/Carbon
  • MTB Type: Full Suspension XC Bike

The Orbea Oiz is Orbea’s lightest and most efficient full susser, and surprisingly, it’s one of the top lightest the fastest bike in its category.

This aero bike was designed for XC racing and has been featuring at the World Cup and the XCO, amongst other high-profile races. The Oiz is also Orbea’s pride and joy as it has climbed on podiums, and swept medals in many competitions.

The Oiz comes in about ten options, the most expensive one being the Oiz M LTD. The low budget options come with 100 mm of travel, while the top ones come with 120 mm of travel, front and rear. A free dropper post is included in the package.

The most notable features of the latest Oiz flagships are the internal cable routing and a Fiberlink that makes the bike lighter and more rigid.

The Orbea Oiz is the bike to buy if you are an avid XC rider and want a bike that can give attacks in races. It’s an endurance bike with a terrific concept in cycling, and convenient if you love riding bumpy trails for longer.

The bike climbs really well, thanks to its remotely locked suspension, forgiving on descents, and is suitable for elite bicycle racing. By the way, it’s spelled “Oy-eth!”

4. Orbea Occam

Specs:

  • Fork: 140-150 mm Travel
  • Shock: 140 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Aluminum/Carbon
  • MTB Type: Full Suspension Trail Bike

When the front and rear travel exceed 139 mm, you already know what’s the deal. Every full-suspension bike is a quiver killer, and Orbea’s best quiver killer is none other but Orbea Occam. The Occam is a serious bike for those who know about it and I consider it the future of cycling.

The bike is capable of handling any challenge thrown at it. While some Occam models get a 140 mm of squish, some get some more downhill or enduro capabilities with a 150 mm of travel on the front. The bikes come with triple-butted aluminum frames or advanced monocoque carbon frames.

The Occam will come through for you if you love adventure and attending the biggest races. That’s why it’s the appropriate bike for you if you’re an avid trail rider with nothing to lose.

This is the perfect do-it-all rig that can ride on any terrain and with any style, yet fast, on descents and a great climber. Besides you can test Orbea bike painting skills by requesting a biker personalization interface for your Occam.

5. Orbea Rallon

Specs:

  • Fork: 170 mm Travel
  • Shock: 160 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Carbon
  • MTB Type: Full Suspension Enduro Bike

I’m afraid that Orbea doesn’t have a downhill bike, but they compensated for that with one of the top-grossing enduro bikes – the Orbea Rallon.

The Rallon serves both styles much well, and you can confidently use it as a downhill bike. Rallon’s biggest advantage is that it can pedal to the top, make a U-turn and cruise on the descents like a rocket.

The newest models of Orbea Rallon are more aggressive than they have ever been and come at affordable prices.

The linkage assembly of the current Rallon has received a few updates to its linkage to improve its stroke sensitivity.

It also comes with a light yet tough carbon aerodynamic frame and 170 mm and 160 mm front and rear travel to absorb the toughest obstacles on your way down.

The Rallon is indeed the bike to buy if you value a good ride and into enduro and competitive cycling. The bike is extremely forgiving on descents and one of the high-end performance bicycles I’ve come across.

With the Rallon, you’ll have every advantage over your competition especially if you consider the puncture-resistant tires it comes with.

However, just like any other enduro bike, with all that travel, the Rallon will not climb as quickly as a trail or XC bike would.

6. Orbea Wild-FS

Specs:

  • Fork: 160 mm Travel
  • Shock: 160 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Carbon/Aluminum
  • MTB Type: Full Suspension Enduro/Trail/All-mountain e-Bike
  • Motor Wattage: 625Wh
  • Max Speed: 20 mph

Orbea is a brand that has built a reputation by building and marketing a few models with a direct reach with its loyal customers.

They do have two e-MTB models, one of them being the Orbea Wild-FS serving three cycling categories.

I’m not a big fan of electric bikes, but this was worth mentioning for those who like e-bikes without a rear hub motor. When you run out of juice uphill, and there’s still a long way to go, the e-motor will give you a boost.

The Wild-FS comes in over five options, with all-mountain/enduro frame material. The suspension type also differs according to the bike you want to take.

You will either get a RockShox or Fox forks and shocks, with 160 mm of travel. The headliner of the Orbea Wild-FS is the Bosch internal motor that can push the bike to up to 20 mph.

This is the perfect bike for you with a great choice of components and comfy tires, if you are a trail or enduro rider that needs some boost uphill whenever you’re tired.

It’s a heavy bike because of the motor, but that’s ignorable, considering the benefits! It’s forgiving on descents but a headache uphill so turn on the motor! Overall, the bike is fine.

7. Orbea Rise M

Specs:

  • Fork: 150 mm Travel
  • Shock: 140 mm Travel
  • Wheel Size: 27.5”/29”
  • Frame Size: S, M, L, XL
  • Frame Material: Carbon
  • MTB Type: Full Suspension Trail e-Bike
  • Motor Wattage: 360Wh
  • Max Speed: 20 mph

Orbea doesn’t play around when it comes to building quality e-bikes, and with the Orbea Rise, not only did they build a quality bike, but they also built a light one.

Most e-bike riders say that the Rise is the lightest trail e-bike they’ve ever tried and who I’m I to oppose? I don’t have much experience with e-bikes but by just holding the Rise you’ll notice that it’s lighter than most bikes.

Launched into the cycling market in 2020, the Rise is packed with a 150 mm travel fork and a 140 mm travel rear to keep the trails comfortable and rideable.

The material of this bike is full carbon. All the four Rise modes utilize the Shimano EP-8 motor and a 360Wh battery. The bike also comes with a RockShox fork and rear shock or FOX, depending on how much you are willing to spend.

The Orbea Rise is the perfect bike for future bike owners looking for a lightweight full-suspension trail e-MTB with high-end components. It’s also one of the most expensive e-Bikes going by the components and the rich features.

If you like hitting trails, this bike will take your experience to a whole new level. Besides, it’s a fully customizable mountain bike.

Orbea Warranty

Every Orbea bike is covered by a warranty, but the owner has to register the bike online by signing up at the Orbea platform and entering the bar code of your bike. Your Orbea local bike retailer will help you with making a claim.

Once the limited warranty expires, Orbea provides a lifetime one, on all alloy and carbon monocoque frames and rigid forks.

Your bike also gets a one-year warranty for faulty paint or varnish on the frame or forks. The lifetime warranty covers your bike frame breakage or cracking.

After Sales Support

Orbea sales support is just a call or an e-mail away. Alternatively, you can fill out a form on the site and describe your issue. The sales support will respond to your queries as soon as possible.

History of Orbea

Spanish food is one thing we enjoy when we get a chance to, but the food is not the only Espana pride. Orbea is proudly made in Spain, and the curves and the color hues, sound like it.

Founded in 1840, by brothers Casimiro Orbea, Juan Manuel and Mateo, Orbea is one of the oldest bike brands in the world.

The bike manufacturer started as a rifles and guns manufacturer, and after 90 years, they shifted from what kills to what improves lives – cycling!

The bike maker dived into the bike industry in 1920, and by 1934, their bikes were gracing the Tour de France. Mariano Canardo carried Orbea’s flag high in the next series of Tour de France.

In 1969, Orbea took a nosedive, and recorded dwindling profits as it suffocated in debt. It took the intervention of its employees who purchased the brand from the family and relocated it from Eibar to Mallabia.

In the next 20 years, the new Orbea company focused on Spanish and the European clientele and produced leisure bikes.

In the 80s, the company had shaken off most of its debt and seeking for greener pastures. In 1989, Orbea dipped its toe in the world of mountain bikes.

The workers at Orbea still own the company and they produce five mountain bikes and one e-bike amongst others. Apart from awesome bike deals, Orbea has built a reputation for painting bikes creatively.

Wrapping Up

I might not know everything, but I know Orbea bikes are great especially for lifetime cyclists and professional cyclists, and they have Spanish love and care.
