The fourth annual Crankworx Colorado kicks off this week at Winter Park Resort’s Trestle Bike Park, July 29 – August 1, 2010. With more interactive events scheduled this year, guests and athletes alike will experience something new this summer. The lineup for athlete poster signing is set with huge names in the world of mountain biking. Details for the new Intergalactic Pond Crossing Championships are set, which looks to be a fan and racer favorite. To build excitement or for guests unable to attend the event, course preview videos are currently available and live feed videos will be available during competition. Free to spectators, the fourth annual Crankworx Colorado mountain bike festival will once again be a premier event at Winter Park Resort and in the sport of mountain biking.

Fans of all ages will be able to meet the well-known riders competing at the 2010 Crankworx Colorado festival during the popular athlete poster signing. Posters will be available or guests can bring their own. Note, athlete appearances may change without notice.

INTERGALACTIC POND CROSSING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The new Intergalactic Pond Crossing Championships levels the playing field for all mountain bike racers. This unique event features a floating course that crosses the Winter Park Village Pond. Athletes will race their bike across the 8 inch wide wooden track vying for the fastest time. This “winner takes all” event will make the fastest racer $500 richer. Athletes will pay $5 for each time, max of four times, they race across the pond allowing athletes more than on chance to best their time. Athletes must use their own bikes. Helmets and PFD’s will be provided. Each bike will have a floating tether and boats will be in the pond to assist with exiting. Registration is open Wednesday – Saturday until 3:30pm. At 3:30 the start order is created. Costumes are encouraged!

Awards will be given to fastest time in each of the following divisions: Junior Men – 18 and under, Junior Women – 18 and under, Men, Women, and the overall fastest time wins $500
