Kathy Sessler
Most people know Kathy Sessler as the Santa Cruz Syndicate Team Manager, but some of you may remember that she had a successful downhill career in the 1990s. Kathy raced for Action-Tec and Intense in the early days. In fact, for all you history buffs: Kathy was actually the first rider to race the M1 chassis that started the downhill bike revolution.
A two-time unofficial vet World Champion and three-time vet National Champ,
Kathy has done everything from stunts for the TV show Pacific Blue to
recording her own BMX history. Kathy’s early 1970's Super 8 footage –
filming her friends jumping and roosting their Schwinn Sting-Rays – is
actually some of the earliest recorded BMX film and can be seen in Sprung 5
and Joe Kid On A Sting-Ray. Kathy has roots.
Known as “One Fast Mother” on the race circuit because she is a parent of
two daughters, Kathy is one of the coolest people on the circuit.
