SAM HILL TAKES FIRST IN CANADIAN OPEN DOWNHILL ON FINAL DAY AT KOKANEE


The Canadian Open Downhill took over the Whistler Mountain Bike Park in the final day at Kokanee Crankworx 2008. More than 260 riders took part in the race, having only one run to clock their best time possible on a course that is said to be as challenging as any World Cup course.

The Monster Energy Slopestyle at Kokanee Crankworx dominated the Boneyard Slopestyle course in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park today. Every year this event draws the biggest crowd of the festival, watching the best athletes in the world of mountain biking compete for $30,000 in prize money.

The GIANT Slalom took center stage on August 15th, Day Seven of Kokanee Crankworx 2008. With a list of world-class riders charging for the finish line two-at-a-time, spectators onsite and watching via webcast on Crankworx.com and Go211.com witnessed big crashes and big finishes in the high speed, head-to-head race event.

The second annual Womenzworx Gala Competition at Kokanee Crankworx took place in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park today. The course included four main sections - a technical descent on In Deep; an air section on Schleyer; jumps on Crabapple; and two options for slopestyle, Dirt Merchant or the Boneyard.

The Jim Beam Air Downhill took over the Whistler Mountain Bike Park today with over 300 competitors racing in the one-run format on the famed A-Line course. Brian Lopes of Laguna Beach, CA was the fastest competitor for the third straight year finishing with a time of 4:22.10 - 1.32 seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Chris Herndon is becoming very familiar with the podium as he‘s once again laid step on it twice in one weekend. Chris took advantage of the busy race schedule in Colorado this past weekend competing at both the Crankworx Colorado event in Winter Park as well as the Mountain States Cup race at Sol Vista in Granby.
